Some years ago when Ashlee, Callan and Mart were younger we started a tradition for "papa" (Arthur Govett). Papa being a very practical man and a man of very small needs told us repeatedly that we needn't waste our money of gifts for him! He didn't need or want anything, the kids didn't feel happy with this so we decided that perhaps we would "make/bake" papa something - hence the beginning of the Rock Bun tradition. A tradition that papa loved/loves/and looks forward to each birthday/fathers. He savours his buns, sharing reluctantly (only when Anita makes him) and when he does share he watches you like a hawk to make sure you only have ONE!.
One day Papa asked me for my recipe - so I wrote it out and gave it to him. Some weeks later after he had made a batch or two, he declared that I must have "missed" an ingredient as his buns just didn't taste the same as ours! What can I say other than his were made with "LOVE" that must be the missing ingredient:)
So when Papa and Anita called to say that they would be passing through Blackwater this coming weekend out came the cook book and the cooking began.
