Ditto
We had a sensational night when we caught up with Tash, Adam, Shay, Chloe, Tegan and Mick for a long awaited BBQ that we have been trying to coordinate for months. Adam had a slight head start on us as his beloved Hawks (Hawthorn) had just won the AFL grand final so he was ready to
P A R T Y.
Tash's little girl Chloe was a wonderful hostess and let Sophie share her toys and they were both in heaven at dessert time. Like most little ones, if there is cake there must be a birthday, so for the occasion it was Micks impromptu birthday and we all sang a beautiful rendition of "happy birthday to you" - I have no idea when Micks birthday is but nothing will top two sweet little girls singing at the top of their voices in anticipation of a slice of the most delicious looking "birthday" cake. And they enjoyed every last mouthful. Shay was the most wonderful big sister and responded to the little ones as they started to wind down - although that took some time:)
As Tash so eloquently put it when she originally issued the invitation to her home - a time to catch up with friends to "drink and dribble" and drink and dribble we did it was the best night - Many thanks Tash, Adam, Shay & Chloe for your most generous and wonderful hospitality, can't wait to do it again.
Who's the pretty bird then???
The Motel we stayed at had a dancing/singing cocky and Sophie was totally impressed. Old Mate who owns the place was more than happy to show off his prized bird and mate. The bird was quite the performer but took a real interest in Nick and Sophie's fingers!
Sophie informed in a very sad, unloved, a girl never gets a thing in her life voice "I don't have a have a cocky at my house like that mans:(" - forget the fish, 3 chookens and two dogs at home!
Never trust a little girl with the hose....
Tegan and Mick were busily digging in plants for a hedge when we arrived, so after the tour and smoko, it was back to finish the planting. And of course all new plants need water, Sophie was quick to offer Tegan some assistance with that job. I had only just turned the camera off when Sophie turned the hose on Mick, never seen a boy move so quick:) She thought it was a huge joke (so did we) but she was suitably chastised and told that the water was to go on the plants ONLY. Boy I wished I'd still had the camera on:)
Bouldercombe Beauty....
Friends Tegan and Mick are building a home which they hope will be finished by Christmas, Mick is a builder by trade and he has designed and is building their new home. On our Rocky trip we took the opportunity to have a look - it is simply going to be the BEST house in Bouldercombe. It has a look of grandeur about it already and the ensuite is going to be every girls dream with double shower heads from the ceiling and the wall!!! and it is big enough for lots of things.... - I might stop right there. Beautiful timber decking, floors and stair case and the list goes on. But I guess Micks experience as a builder puts him ahead of the rest of us and he has accommodated all those little extras like plenty of electrical points, cupboards and storage galore. I am sooooo envious and can't wait to see it when it is finished.
A trip to the Dentist
Sophie's fist visit to the dentist. She was very excited and we had spent some time leading up to her appointment telling her what would happen and that she would go on this very special chair. So she marched into the dentist with much confidence and bravado, hops herself onto the chair, tells the dentist her name and starts to ask what every thing is (and I mean EVERYTHING). Well this is a girl that has no fear and loves all the rides at theme parks, but when that dentist chair started moving she was off it like a shot!
The dentist was incredibly patient, showing Sophie the pedal that she uses to move the chair up and down, so with a little reluctance she hopped back. The examination proceeded well with Sophie getting a gold star for her teeth cleaning (we didn't bother to share the challenge we have and the bribes we have often used to ensure these teeth are cleaned!) She was rewarded with a balloon and bracelet, then asked the dentist if she had any lollies!

A Lady of Leeeeisure no more.......
I have been offered a contract with a local mining company until the end of the year so my days of leeeeisure are temporarily suspended. This has all evolved in the last few days so a bit of a rush and no time to rethink and say no! A little bit excited to be back in the workforce again especially as I have found a lovely family daycare mum for Sophie. Sophie has had a few visits with Maria and each time has been very reluctant to come home! (say no more) Maria has a 5 year old daughter, plus cares for 2 other 4-5 year old girls, plus Sophie (brave woman I say). I thought I should start preparing Sophie for my return to work as she has loved having me home (or so I thought) but ever since all she does is ask me "is today the day I go to Maria's????" So I guess as long as Sophie is content all will be good.
Jellinbah Mine is half way between Blackwater and Bluff, so about 1/2 hour travel each way. Website is www.jellinbah.com.au for anyone interested in knowing a bit more about what they do - hopefully I will find out tomorrow:) They will pay travel to and from the mine, supply uniform, including........................................ wait for it....................... steel capped boots - Hey what more can a girl ask for? Sad thing is they don't come with heels:( They arrange a Coal Board Medical and generic induction (hope neither are painful) then I will be off and running.
So wish me luck and keep posted as the blogs wont' stop (I hope not any way).
Nick has sourced me a funky little "pocket" camera 10 mega pixel, 5 x optical zoom, totally handbag size in support of my addiction (or perhaps so I will leave his camera alone!!!!) so there will be no reason for the blog to stop.
A little bit of the Adelaide show comes to Blackwater
What a surprise when the postal delivery lady arrived with a HUGE box for us from Marv & Clare. You have never seen a boxed opened so fast "who is it from? what can it be? why did Clare and Marv send it to us? - and how delighted Sophie was with the surprises inside.
As you can see by the card Clare and Marty had thoughtfully sent us all some goodies from the Adelaide Show and they could not have chosen better.
Miss Sophie - Disney Princess show bag (with lip gloss!!!)
Miss Sophie - Disney Princess show bag (with lip gloss!!!)
Mum - Charlesworth bag (with jubes!)
Nick - Coopers bag (stacked with goodies such as hats, bar mat, bottle opener, mug etc)
Sophie spent the remainder of the day delighting in her bag of goodies and couldn't wait for daddy to get home so that he could dance with her. As you would know all princesses have tooraara's, long gloves, beautiful jewelry, lip gloss and dance with a handsome prince (this being Nick). So the minute he walked in the door it was "dancing" on! He didn't even get out of his work gear, nor did he get to open his own bag as Sophie was more than happy to "help" him with that job.
Clare and Marv you are so very thoughtful and generous -THANK YOU:)
